Courses
Currently there are three courses leading to National Diploma in Teaching function in Pasdunrata National College of Education.
They are,
- English
- Mathematics
- Primary
- ICT
Each of these courses have the following structure in their content.

Special area subjects help the prospective teachers to be specialized in two subject s in their field of study.
For example students teachers who will become teachers of English in their future career learn Phonology, Linguistics ,Reading and Writing and listening and speaking as their Subject one and Literature and ELT methodology as their subject 2.

Student teachers who follow Mathematics course have Mathematics as their subject 1 and Science as their subject 2.
The students teachers who are aspiring to become Primary teachers have a specially designed structure to their course so that they study the five subjects Primary Mathematics , Environmental Related Activities, First Language, Second Language and English in order to be competent in the subject content of the Primary syllabus of the Sri Lankan school system.

Professional area subjects make them professionally qualified teachers to handle young children by mastering the theoretical and practical aspects in the following subjects.
- Educational Psychology
- Sociology of Education
- Educational Guidance and Counseling
- Educational Measurement
- Elements of Education and Classroom Management
- Education Practice
The subjects in the General area such as Aesthetic studies( i.e. Art, Dancing, Music, Drama and Theatre), Health and Physical Education and Language studies (eg. First Language, Second Language and English) develop them into balanced personalities.
Thus, it is obvious that the subject content of the courses is designed in such a way that the student teachers will be competent to handle both the syllabus and the students in the Sri Lankan school system.
